Bobby Morrison Books
Stories you can feel in your bones.
Bobby Morrison writes about where he comes from and what it takes to keep moving forward. From a sharecropper’s farm in North Carolina to a life built step by step, his books carry the kind of truth that does not need decoration.
Welcome to Piney Grove, and beyond.
Bobby’s writing begins in a small community centered around a church, a place called Piney Grove, even though there are no pine trees there. It is a world of tradition, family stories, hard seasons, and proud people. It is also a world that changes, like everything does, and the books hold both the before and the after.
A memoir of humble beginnings and hard earned progress.
Tales From Piney Grove is a coming of age collection and a regional account of Black Americana. It is framed by a Prelude that lays out the community’s history and customs, and an Epilogue that returns decades later with a simple truth: you can go home again, even when the era you knew is gone.
Bama Boy opens on a sharecropper’s farm in North Carolina and follows a coming of age journey shaped by work, faith, discipline, and ambition. It is Americana in the truest sense, personal, grounded, and quietly powerful.
What Makes These Books Different
Clear-eyed storytelling
Bobby does not preach. He does not perform. He tells the story and lets you decide what it means.
Characters you will remember
The Tales are filled with people who feel real, funny, complicated, and unforgettable. You will meet church folks, moonshiners, local legends, and family members who live on in the telling.
A world before and after change
From sharecropping to factory jobs, the books capture what it looks like when a community shifts and nothing stays the same.
Piney Grove is the author’s love affair. He never left Piney Grove. He took Piney Grove with him.
